I love being a dad. I value my role of influence with my daughter as much as anything that I am privileged to do. I GET to be a dad! It’s an opportunity. I don’t “have” to…I “get” to. It’s an honor to bring up another person who whose life will be shaped by my influence.
I revere the Apostle Paul’s words in Ephesians 6:4 as my life’s mission. Paul said, “Fathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.” (Ephesians 6:4 MSG)
This Father’s Day isn’t a day for me to be honored. Rather today serves as a quiet reminder of the honor I have to shape the future for my kids. My deepest longing is for my kids to grow up loving Jesus! And everyday that I spend raising my kids must lead them toward my Savior in hopes that they will trust Him as Savior of their lives.
I’d love to hear how your father pointed you toward Jesus. Keep the conversation by posting a comment!
