About five years ago before our first daughter was born, my wife Amber and I set out on a journey to eliminate debt and live within the income that God had provided for us. We’d accumulated some debt on a few small department store credit cards – $75 here, $237 there, $150 on this one. Not that big of a deal. We also had several thousand dollars on one credit card. Add to that two car payments and lots of student loans.
We had no plan and consistently at the end of each month we had no money.
That is until two years ago I met Joe Sangl. Joe is the founder of I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. – a ministry committed to helping people achieve more than they ever thought possible with their finances. From his experience of living in our shoes to becoming debt free, Joe personally came alongside Amber and I and coached us in the specific decisions we needed to make in order to win with our money. Each month he spent an hour with us on the phone working through our budget and showing us exactly what we needed to do to win with our money and the right next steps to becoming debt free. And I’m grateful to say that we’re moving in that direction!
I’m so FIRED UP for Joe and the IWBNIN team because this week they celebrate five years helping people like me with their ministry. They’ve assisted over a million people through their various resources. And today I want to feature two of their BEST resources for you.
The I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. Book
This is one of the books that we give to everyone who attends the I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. study that we offer at my Church. “In the first four chapters, you will read how Joseph walked out of financial bondage and into freedom. In the following eight chapters, Joseph shares the exact tools that his family used to break free. All of the tools are FREE via JosephSangl.com, and this book explains in detail how to implement them into your own life.” (excerpt taken from the IWBNIN website).
In celebration of their 5th birthday, this weekend only, you can buy this book packaged with another practical book Joe wrote for students called “What Everyone Should Know About Money Before They Enter The Real World” for only $10 (normally $15 each). If I didn’t already own them, I would absolutely take advantage of this offer. So if I were you, I’d go here to make my purchase.
The I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. Smartphone App
THIS is the budget form that Amber and I use every single month to manage our finances. It is available at no cost for both iPhone and Andriod devices and it includes lots of other great resources. I love it because it does all of the calculating for me. I simply enter my income and my household expenses and instantly I see where my money goes. The primo way to begin winning with your money is to start by telling every dollar where it must go. And there’s no better way to take charge of your finances than to create and live by a budget. Click here to download your FREE IWBNIN Budget App today (or search IWBNIN in your app store) get started. Don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry. You can download the spreadsheets and use them from your computer.
