As of my post on Monday about my turning thirty, it has been nearly six months since my last blog post. I was honestly surprised to find my website still on the Web!
I certainly don’t intend for this to be an excuse for neglecting my blog; however, this has been an incredibly busy season for me. I’ve experienced some major responsibility changes within the ministry structure of my Church. My family has had some personal situations that have demanded more of my attention. Life provided some major unexpected surprises; and, quite honestly, I was ill prepared for maintaining my blog. For that, I apologize to you.
As I’ve reflected upon my recent schedule, I’ve learned something about my priorities that I hope may encourage you. Life happens. Schedules change. Responsibilities grow. And when that occurs, some of your personal priorities risk being neglected. So what do you do? Should you simply throw in the towel and give up?
Let’s say you create a goal to read your Bible through in a year. Now we’re nearly six months into the year – and you have fallen off the reading plan wagon. Does that mean you should just quit reading your Bible?
Or perhaps you set out to lose fifteen pounds before summer. After several weeks of disappointing weigh-ins, you gave up. Should you give up losing weight completely?
When life distracts you from your personal plan, REASSESS and RECOMMIT to the plan.
So pick up your Bible and start where you left off. Kickstart your exercise routine or meal plan. Forget about your previous attempts and failures. Just start.
I’ve reassessed my goals of writing content that helps you grow in your faith. I’ve evaluated all of the distractions that have kept me from regularly writing. And I’ve decided to recommit to the original plan of writing each week.
I’m committed to three types of posts that you can expect each week:
*Message Mondays – Each Monday I’ll send out the video of my message from Warrenton Christian Church. If the message blesses you, I hope you’ll share it with someone else.
*Wednesdays in the Word – The posts that I create will go out on Wednesdays. I will offer practical insights that are gleaned from the Word of God that I hope will encourage spiritual growth.
*Feature Fridays – On Friday I’ll send out featured resources that have been helpful for my faith and that I believe will bless you. These may include articles from leaders I respect, book reviews from books that I’ve read, or other quality resources that will be an asset to your faith.
Be sure to sign up to receive every post directly to your email inbox. Just enter your email address in the upper right hand corner.
As I reignite my heart for writing helpful articiles, I am certainly open to your suggestions and/or questions. Are there Biblical issues that you’d like to hear about? Perhaps there are matters of faith that you need some guidence? If so then leave your thoughts in the comments below or send me an email. Chances are if you’re wrestling with these issues, someone else could be as well.
I’m fired up to encourage you and hopefully offer practical insights that help you grow!
