The Bible is the best-selling book in history, but how many people who attend Warrenton Christian Church are actually reading it? A Gallup survey reports the average American household has four Bibles. However, research by Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life (2008) found that only 16 percent of Americans read the Bible every day.
As followers of Jesus, this is simply inexcusable.
What can we do to reverse this trend in our Church?
I’m prayerfully believe that a new mid-week small group study will help. The Story is a best-selling is a book of selections from the NIV Bible, arranged chronologically, that reads like a novel. It is a practical tool that is written to increase Biblical literacy, helping readers understand God’s story from Genesis to Revelation and how their own stories intersect with God’s. Understand, The Story is not a replacement for your Bible; rather, it’s a resource or launching pad for a deeper passion for Gods word.
Consisting of 31 chapters of carefully-selected scriptures sequenced in chronological order, The Story presents the word of God in an engaging format, reading just like a novel.
The Story is a unique program providing 31 weeks of curriculum for children and adults alike. That means that parents and kids will be reading, studying, discussing, and encountering the same portions of the Bible at the same time which will help promote incredible opportunities for family Bible conversations.
Each Wednesday evening when you come to Warrenton Christian, you will join a small group of adults and together you will journey in discussion and fellowship with the material in that week’s chapter of The Story.
Whether your new to the Bible or if you’ve graduated with a Bible College degree, you will benefit from the guided discussion as you develop a deeper understanding of God’s Story as it is unfolding throughout history.
As a bonus to our journey together, once a month we will break from the discussion of The Story and we’ll participate in a Family Fellowship Experience (FFE) which will vary each month. FFEs will be opportunities for the Church family (kids, teens, & adults) to come together for a meal, service, worship, and learning as a whole church family. (FFE will be the last scheduled Wednesday evenings of each month)
I hope you’ll join us in this incredible journey together through the Bible. You can pick up a copy of The Story book this Sunday for only $15. Be sure to buy your copy before we begin on Wednesday September 4.
