Yesterday I became Dad 2.0 (corniness intended). I’ve been a dad for two-and-a-half years. But yesterday I became a dad with two kids. My family of three instantly grew to a family of four (bring on the tax incentives). While holding my newborn baby girl, a thought reoccured to me that I wanted to share with you. This is not a new revelation for me. But I hope maybe it will bless your life to hear it. Here is it…
ONLY I CAN BE ELLA JOY’S AND LIA GRACE’S DAD!
I wear so many hats that I sometimes forget which one I am wearing at any given time. On a typical week I can be called a Pastor, Preacher, Counselor, Leader, Manager, Janitor, Writer, Blogger, Friend, Cook, Confidant, and many other roles that spontaneously demand my attention.
BUT…out of this list rise just a few that ONLY I can fulfill. I will be the only ME that can be a son to my parents. No one can replace me in this role. Only I can be the husband to my wife. You may argue with me on this one, but I believe in this so much that you will lose this argument.
As much as I hate to admit it, my Church could find another pastor/preacher to fill my role. Those I counsel could find another (and probably better) counselor than me. Someone else could clean up when I clean and someone else could cook when I cook (I’d love to give you the chance).
But only I, Ashton Thomas Stewart, can be the son, husband and dad to the people I love most.
This truth applies to you too! So I challenge you to prioritize your time, energy, and resources accordingly. Keep the conversation going by sharing your thoughts as a comment!
